Our annual art contest to celebrate American Gothic Days!
To see the display:
The Gothic House will be open on Saturday, June 8th from 10am-5pm and Sunday, June 9th from 1pm-4pm, so that all visitors can step inside the historic house, see the art display, and vote to determine the winners in each division.
To enter in the art contest:
This contest is all-ages, and there is no entry-fee to participate. The deadline to submit art with the entry form is Tuesday, June 4th. The art will be judged by blind-voting by visitors who come through the house during American Gothic Days, and the winner will be announced no later than the end of the day of Monday, June 10th.
1st place winners in each division will receive $40, and 2nd place winners will receive $20. All 1st and 2nd place winners will have their art displayed in the gallery of the American Gothic House Center until the following Gothic Days Art Contest. Other participants can pick up their art after winners are determined by center staff.
Rules of Submission:
Art work must include the American Gothic House, or a clear interpretation of the American Gothic painting in some form.
Art work must be original.
Art work must be 8” x 10” or larger.
Art work must be display ready.
Art work may be any medium except photography.
No more than two pieces of art work per person.
Divisions:
I - Kindergarten through 5th Grade
II - 6th Grade through 8th Grade
III - 9th Grade through 12th Grade
IV - Adult - Amateur
V - Adult - Professional
